Zermatt

Matterhorn stands as the most stunning peak in Switzerland, representing the renowned holiday location — Zermatt. Its distinct silhouette even influenced the creation of Swiss chocolate Toblerone.

A cogwheel train links Zermatt to Gornergrat, providing easy access to one of the top spots for taking pictures of the Matterhorn and its neighbouring glaciers. At the summit, visitors will discover Kulmhotel Gornergrat, which is the highest hotel in Switzerland in terms of elevation. The 33-minute and over 9-kilometer-long rack railway ride from Zermatt to the Gornergrat station at 3089 meters is picturesque and unforgettable. With a bit of luck, you will see marmots along the way.

If that is not enough, you can extend your exploration with a ride to the highest cable car station in Europe, situated at 3883 meters — Matterhorn Glacier Paradise.

Zermatt, just like Saas-Fee, is a car traffic free town, where only special small electric vehicles are used as taxi, next to biking and walking. It allows to enjoy the fresh mountain air during the entire stay in Zermatt.
